FIT Lab research areas

FIT Lab does leading work on making the future safer and more enjoyable, particularly by improving the quality of interactive devices - from web sites to medical devices, and from digital libraries to mobile computing in South Africa.

We're funded by EPSRC, Royal Society, Microsoft and others, as well as Swansea University. Highlights include:

• Storybank (EPSRC)
• Negotiated multi-modal interaction (EPSRC)
• New user interfaces for handwriting and calculators
• Navigation by music
• Questions not Answers, re-envisioning mobile search (Microsoft Research UK)
• We are collaborating closely with the digital library project Greenstone, which has been adopted by the UN
• A real calculator
• A text editor with history
• Will Thimbleby's graphics program for Apple Macs won the Apple student Design Award
